When you teach horses to understand and how to respond, life is never going to be the same again.
As prey animals, horses have an innate fear of pressure, either physically or energetically. While we think nothing of asking the horse to respond via pressure from the bit, rein, seat, or leg… not to mention our energy… it often causes a negative response from the horse because their natural instinct is to resist pressure. Never forget this!
Because the horse is likely to resist, it often elicits more pressure from us, but forcing or fighting with your horse will not help him become more responsive, let alone light to your aids. YOU have to teach the horse to understand pressure and how to respond positively.
A responsive horse is a happier horse because it is not fearing, arguing, or fighting you. It is pleasant to be around – polite, agreeable, easier to train, and safer. Happier!
In this module, you are going to teach your horse how to be soft, agreeable, light, and... willing!
